Boston Takes Early Series Lead

Jayson Tatum added 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Marcus Smart chipped in with 15 points and 8 assists.
The Mavericks, who were making their first NBA Finals appearance since 2011, were led by Luka Doncic's 24 points. However, Doncic was uncharacteristically inefficient, shooting just 9-of-24 from the field. Kristaps Porzingis added 17 points and 11 rebounds, but the Mavericks were simply outmatched by the Celtics' superior experience and execution.
The Celtics took control of the game early, building a 12-point lead after the first quarter. They extended their lead to 20 points at halftime, and the Mavericks never recovered. The Celtics' defense was stifling, holding the Mavericks to just 33% shooting from the field and forcing 16 turnovers.
