Brexit: The Economic Cost
Six Years On
Almost two and a half years after the United Kingdom's exit from the EU's Single Market and the EU Customs Union, the economic case for Brexit remains unclear. The impact of Brexit on the UK economy has been mixed, with some sectors benefiting from the UK's new-found freedom to set its own trade policy, while others have suffered from the loss of access to the EU's single market. Overall, the UK economy appears to have been negatively affected by Brexit, with GDP growth slowing and inflation rising. However, it is too early to say definitively what the long-term economic impact of Brexit will be.
